I think it's important to listen to the words the Left uses to express itself. These are the words, the attitudes and opinions that will be faced by your youngsters as they return to their public schools.
Child abuse. If your child dares to express an outlook that differs from the views that are sanctioned by the school district, its administrators, principals and teachers, they will be ridiculed.
Sanctions. Oregon State Superintendent of Schools Castillo sanctions this behaviour. Your local school district sanctions this behaviour. If you have religious views that conflict with these sanctioning bodies, you will be ridiculed as a religious nut. If you have political views that conflict with these sanctioning bodies, you will be ridiculed as a right-wing nut.
They won't point you out by name. But they will do this type of name-calling in the classroom in an effort to re-direct your child onto the correct, sanctioned path. Your child will hear statements like, "only a religious nut would believe such a thing." Or, "only the Right Wing Nuts would ever believe such a thing."
The admonition isn't falling on deaf ears. Which is especially terrible when inflicted upon our best and brightest, those most eager to please.
Your child studying Shakespeare at the high school? How many times will your child have to hear about the "evil corporations" while attempting to discern meaning from Elizabethan literature?
Abuse and sanction.
And your child will take the shame of having parents like you and attempt to paper over that shame. Your child does not want to be identified as a religious kook or rightwing nut. They want what you want. Respect and acceptance.
But in our public schools they will be the object of abuse and sanction.
Didja ever wonder why your child never has any homework? The texts never leave the classroom. Why would you want to read the texts, anyway?

"Disgraced Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, who has admitted leaking nuclear secrets to Iran, North Korea and Libya, said Tuesday restrictions on his movements had been lifted."
What marvey news! More at the link.
Oh, and the really good news? There's talk about us pulling out of Afghanistan.
Hope and Change for Everyone! Adults are so boring. And we love acting like petulant children.
